Makes around 6-8 biscuits.
- 2C AP flour
- 1T Baking powder
- 1t Salt
- 4T butter (half stick)
- 4T Shortening (optional, but use a full stick of butter if omitted)
- ¾ C Buttermilk
Preheat oven to 425.
After measuring, sift the flour with the other dry ingredients, then cut in butter and shortening. Form a well in a large bowl and add buttermilk. Stir just enough to incorporate. Dough should be wet and sticky, almost unmanageable.
Form loosely into balls and drop into greased round pan, or roll out thickly on a floured surface and cut into rounds. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
